The maiden journey

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

We made our “maiden journey” with four kids today. A 300 mile drive from NY to DC. It wasn’t too bad.

I tell you what, I too love Clifford, the big red dog. He saved the day when Zara was screaming that she was done being in her car seat.

These are the tips I’ve gleaned so far from today:

Leave early, as early as possible (yeah, we DIDN’T do that today)

Bring toys (uh, again, I didn’t do that)

Bring bills, vending machines don’t take credit cards (comments same as above)

United praise time, talking games (like rhyming games, etc) can help taking the edge off squirmy travelers

Involve the kids in the plan, let them know what’s going on, etc.

I’ll add a few pics tomorrow. Love ya.
